A better known leaker, a certain IceUniverse a Weibo user has reported that the successor to the Snapdragon 888, the Snapdragon 895, could debut earlier than planned, which could result in the Mi 12 coming in early December.Although Xiaomi usually debuted its top devices in the first half of the year, it broke this habit with the Mi 11, as it wanted to release the device in 2020.

It's been more than half a year since the Mi 11 was released, and there have been no rumours of the Mi 12, so it was about time. There were more than a dozen rumours about the Mi 11 back then, which I've interestingly gathered after the phone's release whether the rumours were true.

Chen Jin, Lenovo's CEO, previously said that its latest flagship phone will come with Snapdragon 895. So the name of the new chip is pretty much a given.

Xiaomi has a very good relationship with Qualcomm. The Mi 11 was the first to use the Snapdragon 888, so it's possible that the Mi 12 will be the first to use the new chip.

Interesting information about the new chip was released a few days ago.

The Snapdragon 865 was built on TSMC's N7P process (second-generation 7 nm), but Qualcomm switched to Samsung's foundries when it ordered the Snapdragon 888. The Snapdragon 888+ is based on the same Samsung 5 nm node as the "regular" version.

Things will be different now, according to Ice Universe. The Snapdragon 895 will be manufactured at Samsung's 4nm division, while the Snapdragon 895+ will be produced at TSMC's 4nm foundries.

Samsung is expected to build the Exynos 2200 in its own 4nm foundry, which will be the first chip with AMD RDNA 2 GPU. Qualcomm has chosen Samsung's 4nm foundry for its X65 and X62 5G modems, so it's natural that the Snapdragon 895 (which will have an integrated X65) will use the same process.

It's likely that the Snapdragon 895 and 895+ will follow a similar schedule to the two 888 versions this year - the "regular" version will arrive around December, the Plus half a year later.
