Sharp rocks made NASA change direction Curiosity rover, which has been working on the red planet since 2012.

Last month, Cuirosity attempted to climb the pebbled sandstone Greenheugh Mound, only to encounter an unexpected obstacle on 18 March. The Martian rover's path was blocked by sharp rocks carved sharply by the winds, making it risky to continue. Ground control therefore decided to turn the rover around and head in a different direction towards Mount Sharp.

THE NASA Communication from says that this is not the first time that rovers have encountered such stones, so-called ventifacts, in the past, when the stones caused serious damage to the wheels of the structure.

In late February, the Mars rover once again managed to attract attention after photocopied from a beautiful, mysterious rock. The tiny, flower-shaped deposit was captured by a camera called MAHLI on the rover's robotic arm, which can observe things as small as dust grains or the texture of rocks. Scientists have found similar formations before and think they are probably made of magnesium sulphate.

Curiosity's main missions include studying the geology and climate of the red planet, searching for traces of water and ultimately discovering whether life existed on the red planet.
