Although the dangerous apps have been removed from the Play Store by Google, they may still be present on many devices.

The cybersecurity experts at ThreatFabric have recently succeeded in running several identify in the Google App Store, which contain a virus called Octo. According to experts, Octo is a new version of a known malware, ExobotCompact, which is able to monitor what is happening on the user's mobile screen and even transmit the characters typed to fraudsters, who can then obtain sensitive financial data.

This malware has been identified in the following apps:

  • Pocket Screencaster
  • Fast Cleaner 2021
  • Play Store
  • Postbank Security
  • Pocket Screencaster
  • BAWAG PSK Security
  • Play Store app install.

Although the malware has already been removed by Google, it has been downloaded around 50,000 times, so it is possible that more phones may still have it. If you have downloaded any of the dangerous apps, you should delete them from your phone as soon as possible, run anti-virus software and check for suspicious activity on your bank account.
