Browsers are the most common way we use computers these days to access the web. That's why they're one of the most vulnerable points on computers and smartphones, so it's especially important to keep them up to date - but that can be a shortcoming.

Google patched 11 vulnerabilities in the Chrome browser on Monday. Two of these, the company believes, could have been exploited by attackers.

The vulnerabilities, reported as CVE-2021-30632 and CVE-2021-30633, are due to memory management issues, one in the V8 JavaScript engine component and the other in the indexed DP API. says the National Cyber Defence Institute

Google did not say how, who, when and for what purpose these bugs were used.

As it is a zero-day bug, it is not really possible to protect against it in advance, but now that the fix is here, it is worth updating as soon as possible. Chrome will do this automatically in most cases, but it's better to be safe than sorry: versions 93.0.4577.82 and above contain the patch.

There is no news on whether Edge, Brave or Vivaldi browsers are affected by these bugs. All three are based on the same Chromium open source project as Google Chrome.

It's always worth updating your software as quickly as possible. However, this is not an easy decision to make, as an update can go wrong, like the Mi A3. However, it's a different story with browsers, where it's better to update as soon as possible, as there's a lot of sensitive data an attacker could access if they somehow manage to take control of your browser.

It's clear from the events of the past few months that even the biggest tech companies can't think of everything. Neither Google nor Apple's software is perfect. That's why it's important to use these tools consciously. One of the biggest threats is still phishing, which is easy to avoid with a little care.
