The Chinese New Year holiday is finally over and the news flow has started again. Xiaomi has not been idle either, this morning the promotion of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra started. The phone will be launched in China on 22 February and in Barcelona on 25 February.
Xiaomi released images of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra this morning, and now the lid has officially come off the phone. As the previously leaked real and rendered images illustrated well and indeed it looks like this. So far, image colours have been shown, black and white, but both have a nano leather back, carrying on the Ultra line. The build and look continues in the same vein, with a huge round camera island.
The Xiaomi 14 Ultra also has a 4-member camera like its predecessor, but it has undergone a huge upgrade. Both the sensors, the lenses and of course the software. All 4 have Sony light sensors and of course Leica optics and software support. In addition, two cameras have been given telephoto features, only one with a floating lens and the other with a periscope lens.
Leica's floating telephoto lens is not new either, the Xiaomi 13 Pro also used this technology. The essence of this is that they can change the distance between the lenses, thus changing the sharpness similarly to SLR machines. The periscopic solution is not new either, but they have all been improved and can achieve much better results with it.

Both are equipped with the Sony IMX858 sensor and, thanks to the lenses, both are capable of macro photography.
As illustrated in the picture, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra will also feature a variable aperture camera. By varying the aperture, you can control the amount of light that enters the sensor. At its highest value, the amount of light entering the camera has been improved by 136% compared to the previous generation. This greatly improves the image quality, not to mention the sensor. The new, second generation Sony LYT-900 is also the equivalent of an inch, but as we know it's not physically the same size. The aperture has also been improved and is continuously adjustable up to f/1.63.
