On Earth Day, Twitter announced that it will no longer allow climate change denying ads on its site.

And Twitter chose the day to announce that it would no longer allow climate change denial ads on the site.

"We believe that climate denial should not be monetized on Twitter and misleading ads should not distract from important conversations about the climate crisis." - reported the social platform in a in blog post. According to the company, any advertisement that does not comply with the scientific consensus will be banned from the site. What exactly will be considered as such will be assessed on the basis of reports from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

Last autumn, Google announcedto remove advertising from the content of climate-change deniers on YouTube, depriving uploaders of the opportunity to make money. The rules, which come into force in November, do not cover the blocking of climate change denialist content, so videos with such views can continue to appear on the site, but creators cannot make money from them.
