Two weeks ago we wrote that Redmi will launch two new earphones. At the time, it was reported that they would be unveiled on September 30, but what goes around comes around, and today they unveiled the two new products in a somewhat surreal live event, where they even wrote a song about the earbuds. In my article at the time, I assumed from the preview promo video that a wired and a wireless earbud would debut. Well, I was wrong, the other one is also wireless, just not TWS, so not true wireless.

Redmi EarBuds 2C

So this is a TWS, a completely wireless headset. The design of the device and the matte black finish of the charging case are very similar to the Redmi Airdot. The 300 mAh capacity of the case gives you 12 hours of music playback, the earbuds can run for up to 4 hours at a time without the case. Charging the case takes 1.5 hours, which (and here's a warning) is solved with a micro-USB connector. The manufacturer promises 150 hours of battery life.

The device is of course compatible with Android and iOS phones, supports Bluetooth 5.0 and promises an operating range of up to 10 metres. The earphones weigh 4.1 grams each. The device is equipped with DSP-ENC, or ambient noise suppression, for better call quality. The button on the device can start and stop music, receive and end calls, mute and unmute, switch between two calls, switch between headphones and phone, and operate personal assistants such as Google Assistant. EarBuds 2C is IPX4 waterproof, meaning it is splash and sweat resistant.

Redmi SonicBass

This headset is also wireless, but the "clip-on" type. It also promises 12 hours of listening time thanks to the 120 mAh battery. A full charge takes 2 hours, which unfortunately is also solved here with a micro-USB connector. The standby time is 200 hours, the earphones weigh 21.2 grams and, as before, promise a maximum operating distance of 10 metres. It also supports Bluetooth 5.0, but here, in addition to support for Android and iOS, Windows has been added. (In the previous case, it was probably not added because of TWS, but my own TWS headset works perfectly under Windows 10.)

It features 9.2 mm drivers for better sound quality and more powerful bass. This headset also features ENC, or ambient noise cancellation, and 2 microphones working in tandem to deliver the best call quality. It supports multi-point connection, which means 2 devices can be connected at the same time. It is also IPX4 waterproof, which means it is splash and sweat proof. The control buttons are located on the right side of the neck strap and support all the functions listed in the previous device. The device is available in black and blue.

Prices

Last but not least, one of, if not the most important factor. The Redmi EarBuds 2C is priced at INR 1499, which is equivalent to ~US$6200. The Redmi SonicBass is priced at INR 1299, which is equivalent to ~$5400. That's all well and good, the only problem is that it's not yet known if it will arrive in Europe and with it Hungary, but I really hope it does, because I think there would be a demand for it.

If you want to see the not-so-ordinary presentation, you can watch it here, I personally had a good laugh:
