Xiaomi is to plan several launch events for the autumn. It is enough to think of the launch of Mi MIX 3 in the middle of September. Although the manufacturer is expected to update its most popular up-mid-category model, the Redmi Note 5 before that.
A small summary, before getting to the point:
At the end of 2017 everybody was looking forward to the successor of Redmi 4 and Redmi Note 4. In the end, Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus were unveiled, then at the beginning of 2018 so was Redmi Note 5. The selection is many more than these, let’s see (without fullness). Out of the phones numbered 5, Redmi Note 5A was the first to be launched almost exactly a year ago, at the end of August in 2017. Later, a Prime version with a more powerful processor was also manufactured. It was followed by an absolutely entry level phone, the Redmi 5A.The supply is wide both in RAM/ROM versions and in colours. Not to mention that there is still a confusion in public because of the ones designed especially for the Indian market with the same name. The best example for this is the Chinese Redmi 5 Plus, which is known as Redmi Note 5 in India or the Chinese Redmi Note 5, which is an extremely popular smartphone also in Hungary and which is known as Redmi Note 5 Pro in India. What rubbish! And then we shouldn’t mention the Indian “Y” versions. The important thing is that Redmi Note 5 Pro cannot be used in Europe as several LTE frequencies are missing.
Except for Redmi 5A, the full 5 series have been changed within 1 year or stopped without a successor (Redmi Note 5A). Redmi 5 and 5 Plus have been available only since the end of February 2018, and we could only get to know Global B20 versions after that. Actually, half a year later, the successor, Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A arrived. Both models returned to MediaTek SoCs. In the background of the decision, supposedly, financial causes played the most important role as they were cheaper and licence fees are substantially lower (in some regions there is no at all) compared to Qualcomm Snapdragon processors. Its performance is OK and so is its consumption. What’s more update won’t be neglected as earlier in some cases of MTK models.
Out of Redmi Note 5, half a dozens have been launched in the past 5-6 months, among which the domestic is 56+64GB (without B20) or the recently announced 6+128GB Global version. Success is not by mistake as in terms of hardware and camera, the phablet is really good.
The name of Roland Quandt doesn’t sound strange or unfamiliar in mobile communities or for our enthusiastic HX readers. He leaked several Xiaomi models before its launch and almost always with real data.
That’s why we can rely on his tweet in which he uveils some information about Redmi Note 6 Pro.
Redmi Note 6 will arrive in two versions 3/32 GB and 4/64 GB. First in gold, blue and black colours. More versions may be available in Europe, even a 6 GB RAM version as well, and several colours (e.g. red)
The price of the phone is expected to be between 200 € (~ 64,800 Ft) and 250 € (~ 81,200 Ft) which is the gross consumer price of the present variants 4+64GB / 6+64GB. Redmi Note 6 Pro is expected to cost even more because of taxes.
No news about the chipset and battery. The Redmi Note 5 is powered by Snapdragon 636, so we can expect an SD660 or 670.
The launch is to be in September or at the beginning of October at the latest. We wouldn’t be surprised if sooner.
Many of you may ask “Where is Mi Note 4?!”
We are also curious of that. 🙂
We would say here first that we got MI 6X for test which will soon be compared to Mi A2. 😉
