Xiaomi TwentySeventeen mechanical watch to commemorate the 600th anniversary of the Forbidden City

The Mi phone range is slowly catching up with the competition, the vacuum cleaners are slowly beating the 200k mark, but there are still affordable products left. This morning, Xiaomi's Youpin online store was updated with a new watch from TwentySeventeen, a long-established brand in China that only offers exclusive products to collectors and users who want a truly special watch. This one was made to commemorate the 600th anniversary of the Chinese Forbidden City and it's not just the two-layer mechanism that makes it so precious, but the sapphire crystal that protects both sides of the watch and the diamond/ruby decorations. This is further enhanced by hand engraving that resembles the Forbidden City.

The watch is naturally water and scratch resistant to 5ATM, requiring 180 man-hours, 4500 processes and 30 technicians. Available in three colours, black, gold and rose gold, with black and brown genuine leather strap. The watch weighs a total of 88 g, has a double spring energy storage, a tourbillon movement and can be wound manually, which must be done every 72 hours or the watch will stop.

This particular watch is not cheap, because it was not made for it. With a price of 4.999 Yuan (~ 229.515 Ft), it is a very special piece for collectors and watch lovers. Although the watch can only be bought in China for this price, it might be added to international online stores in time, but expect that they will even take advantage of it!
