At the launch on 11 September, we heard that the Mix 2 will also be available with a special ceramic housing in black and white. The ceramic version has no metal at all, 8GB of memory and 128GB of storage. Cui Baoqiu, the head of Xiaomi's Clod platform, shared some pictures of the special white ceramic version with us on Weibo.
Something fantastic is happening with this device, this white ceramic took us right off our feet. The thin bezel is incredibly reminiscent of the black colour, but you can see the thin coffee of the LCD panel, which also hugs the display well on the previous white phones. But it is also much thinner than the previous ones!
The white ceramic Mix 2 back is beautiful, reflective, elegant and sporty at the same time. The location of the camera, fingerprint reader and LED flash is unchanged, but the back panel is slightly lacking in lettering compared to the glass back. Either it remains so incomplete, or it's still a prototype and therefore doesn't have the "Mix Built By Xiaomi" inscription.
The Mi Mix 2 special ceramic version is expected to be available in China for 4699 yuan (~721 USD). The ceramic back cover is terribly slow to make, each phone back cover takes 7 days to produce, so don't expect too much of it. Black ceramic is coming too, don't forget!
