The stereotypical ideas that got Xiaomi pigeonholed into the cheap phone category are still swirling around. And then when an expensive one like the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra appears, everyone cries wolf! But why?

Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra

The We've written about Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, but so far we have only highlighted its features, posted an unboxing video, but have not been able to test it. Still... In addition to the phone's incredible camera capabilities, it was the second display that put us in a funk at launch. At first glance, many people saw it as pointless, but it became more appealing when it received positive reviews from experts with significant views.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra DXOMark

The Ultra's camera performance is still by far the best in the world, among phones. Of course, it also has a lot of great features, like the SD888 SoC, 5,000 mAh battery, 2K AMOLED screen, 5G network and IP68 dust and water resistance. Of course, such a flagship or top-of-the-range phone also comes at a price, with the 8/256 GB version available in China for 5,999 Yuan ~ 266,665 Ft, while the most expensive 12/512 GB version is 6,999 Yuan ~ 311,115 Ft. Of course, everything is always cheaper in Xiaomi's home country than anywhere else in the world. Since you have to ship there, you have to pay local taxes, so the price will be higher than in China, but by how much?

  • India: 69.999 RS ~ 272.300 Ft
  • France: 1.199.90 € ~ 415.115 Ft
  • Italy: 1.399.90 € ~ 484.310 Ft
  • Hungary: 529.990 Ft

The domestic price, the xiaomishop.hu official reseller although the Hungarian launch was only yesterday, you can already buy the hottest Xiaomi phone a week ago. Let's taste its price: 529.990 Ft. What else can you get for that price? For example, we can choose from 242 used cars, 7 Poco X3 NFC, 4 Redmi Note 10 Pro, 31 Mi Band 6 or 10 smart vacuum cleaners.

But why so little?

But why is it so much more expensive here than on the other side of the world? Exactly double the price of Chinese... do the math. Price + shipping + insurance + VAT + VAT + handling charges + profit. VAT alone is only 72.000 Ft on it, and the rest is well out of the price. We can't give you a concrete figure for the profit, because neither the shops nor the agency will tell you. But there is a central suggested retail price below which official shops cannot go. But based on experience so far, it could be 10-14%.

But the question is, is it worth the price? Well, not so much at home, but since it's not an ordinary phone, but even a work tool, a few good jobs can bring the price back, and from there it's just a steaming good time.
