In the age of electric scooters, there's not much new to surprise you with, but Xiaomi has managed. A Xiaomi Electric Scooter 3 Lite lighter than its predecessor, but it is not clear what it is the successor to. The Scooter 3 I tested is not, but you could say it is a successor to the Essential scooter. Let's find out!

Xiaomi Electric Scooter 3 Lite

At first glance, it looks exactly like any other scooter. But if you look a little closer, there are quite a few differences compared to its predecessors. The most striking, I think, is the rear brake. Almost all today's scooters now have discs instead of drum brakes like the Scooter 3 Lite. The reason for this, as the name suggests, is cheapening. The drum brake is not so significantly worse than the disc brake, although there are a few who would argue with that. But let's take the scooter as a starting point, capable of a maximum speed of 25 km/h. I don't think there is as much difference in stopping distance as there is with, say, a car or a motorbike.

The other major difference is the reversal of the steering rod's downshift mechanism. Previously the latch was on the rearward side of the rod and the hinge was on the forward side. This has been reversed, for good reason. After all, the greatest shearing force on this component is generated under braking. I think the users 90% relies on the handlebars as a centre of gravity shift to spare it. Now, on the previous scooters, the reverse mechanism was quite exposed to this force and it would just slip and wobble. It was tolerable from time to time, but it was by no means safe.

The third thing to notice is the filling hole. Until now it was under the scooter's base, next to the battery pack in the front. Now it has finally been put on the "B" post. This makes it easy to reach, no need to duck under the scooter to get the charger in. The other reason this is a neat trick is that in or after rain, the puddle won't get kicked up there by the front wheel and get locked up. Now Xiaomi can get 1 red point for that.

Xiaomi Electric Scooter 3 Lite

In terms of features, it's an average scooter. The top speed is the usual 25 km/h, which can be changed to a comfortable 20 km/h and a pedestrian 5 km/h. Its climbing ability is sufficient for 14% of climbing, and its battery will take an average person about 20 km on a single charge. Although its wheels are not the now I think standard 10″, but only 8.5″. So watch out for bumps, because he doesn't like it that much and it's just asking for trouble. Its load capacity is max 100kg, so it won't go 20km under the heavier passengers, I guarantee it (experience).

The Xiaomi Electric Scooter 3 Lite it's well worth the price, of course the predecessors are already well discounted, so it may not look like it. The term Lite is also misleading, it's not a crappy version, so the 219.990 Ft price tag is correct. If you've been reading my articles, you may have come across this scooter before, because it's now the xiaomishop.hu official online store is bundled with the Xiaomi eletromos pump, with a small discount. It's worth checking out, because it can be an almost indispensable accessory not only for the scooter, but for the whole household. I'll write more about it soon.
