Finally, this morning the official launch date for Xiaomi 13 and MIUI 14 was announced. As expected, it will be exactly Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 12:00 local time. The MIUI 14-Unfortunately, not much has been revealed yet about how much and in what ways it will be better than the 13.However, the Xiaomi 13 phone series was revealed this morning, not only that it will be unveiled on Thursday, if not a few other very important features.
Xiaomi 13 / Pro Nano leather technology
The Xiaomi 13 / Pro in some colors will use the Xiaomi 12S Ultra Neno leather technology. Unprecedented material innovation, leather feel, better wear, discoloration and dirt resistance, resistant to ultraviolet rays and erosion.
High-end flat OLED screen, ultra-thin bezel
The Xiaomi 13 series uses a unique high-end OLED straight screen, a visual rectangle, and a bezel width of just 1.61 mm. But this will be unique to the plain 13, and the latest poster shows the rounded screen edge. And that will be the Pro version.
IP68 dust and water resistance
Well, here it is! All Xiaomi 13 series devices are IP68 dust and water resistant certified. IP68 is the highest dust and water resistance standard according to GB/T 4208-2017 enclosure protection level (IP code). To assess the phone's rugged and waterproof performance, look first at the two XX digits behind IPXX. The first X is the dust resistance level between 0 and 6, with the highest rating being 6. The second X is the water resistance level between 0 and 8, with the highest rating being 8. For an IP rating of 8 in the last digit, the IEC requires the phone to withstand immersion in water at least 1 metre deep for 30 minutes.
Best Geekbench scores
Judging from GeekBench 5's running scores, the Xiaomi 13 multicore score in this group is up to 5343, and the single-core score is 1507. This is the highest score among Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 models so far and also greatly outperforms the Qualcomm prototype. But still a far cry from Apple's A16 1889/5555.
