One day I would really like to have a chat with the Xiaomi marketing and series design team, because I just don't understand them. Of course, this is nothing new, I've pretty much given up looking for any logic in the various absurd naming conundrums with the Redmi 5 Plus - Redmi Note 5, but there's more to it than that.

A Twitter user named Kacper Skrzypek came up with a very interesting post, which was later confirmed.

"Market Name: Redmi Note 8" No, that's not a typo, Redmi is re-releasing the Redmi Note 8, which was released almost 2 years ago. This was later confirmed on a site linked to Xiaomi, with the device being referred to as the Redmi Note 8 2021.

It is common for discontinued models to be re-released at a lower price for developing countries, but the device is expected to come to Europe. No, but it won't be exactly the same as the 2019 release.

Inside the device will be the familiar Helio G85 from the Redmi Note 9, as opposed to the Snapdragon 665 in the 2019 version, the battery will be the same 4000 mAh, but the latest MIUI version 12.5 will be on the phone.

As for the other specifications, it will have a 22.5 W fast charge, compared to the "old" 18 W, 4 cameras, of which the main sensor will be 48 MP. The leaker also revealed that there will be a 128 GB version.

And what is the point of all this? I don't know, if you know, I'm waiting for the answers! :D
