18 March 2018 - Two new Viomi product has arrived. Xiaomi today added two kitchen appliances manufactured by Viomi to its range. The smart fridge is even nicer and has a larger display (than its predecessors), while the smart oven is a new category in the manufacturer's line-up.

Intelligent oven

At first glance it looks like a modern microwave, but it's more than that.

2018 is the year of AI (or Artificial Intelligence at Xiaomi) So far, almost all the electric gadgets launched this year have been equipped with AI. That's not a bad thing, as Smart Homes are becoming increasingly popular and Xiaomi is at the forefront of developments. And in terms of pricing, it's leading the way (i.e. it's wooing customers away from the competition with very affordable prices).

THE new oven (or "furnace") full name Viomi Internet Steaming Machine. Microwave oven, equipped with. OLED display on the front (right side) for easy use, but also barcode/QR code reader. This feature allows it to detect the type of product inserted, so it can check the cooking/baking time as well as the expiry date. The internal size is 28 litres.
You can cook all kinds of food in the oven: fish, meat, cakes...

You can control it from your smartphone, even remotely via the Mi Home app. You can see the remaining time or start cooking on the way home, so you don't have to wait for dinner when you get home. You can also operate it with voice control. Initially, the AI system can recognise 3000 products. The price is therefore not in the 10-20.000 HUF range, but rather the price of a full extra microwave, i.e. 120.000 HUF
A detailed presentation is expected in the coming weeks.

Smart fridge

It is beautiful at first sight. The queen of the fridge, the dream of every housewife, the jewel of the kitchen...
The premium quality is not just on the outside, the inside has everything that today's technology can do (no info on an internal camera yet, but it's very likely that there is one).

Before a detailed presentation, I will now just summarise his knowledge in points:

  • 462 litres max. capacity. 289 litres for the upper part, 173 litres for the bottom drawer freezer
  • giant touchscreen: complete with multimedia system (weather, music streaming, slideshow, shopping list...) Of course, it can be further controlled via Mi Home app.
  • 3-chamber refrigerated compartment (the upper one is 2-zone and the lower two drawers are merged)
  • plastic trays in the freezer section for easy packing
  • quick freeze function
  • quiet operation, max. 38dB total power.

The cooler is covered in grey inox metal. Price 280.000 Ft.

If both products are marketed in the Chinese domestic market, it is safe to assume that they may later appear in EU smart home shops.
