Back on Wednesday 29 November, the Redmi K70 series was launched, along with a number of new Redmi products. One of them was the highly anticipated (by me) Redmi Watch 4, which we already knew would feature the new HyperOS, unlike usual. But other than that, it has a few more innovations and surprises in store.

Redmi Watch 4: HyperOS a fedélzeten

Since I have a Redmi Watch 3 Active watch, which I fell in love with at first, I was looking forward to the Redmi Watch 4. But at the launch, Wang Teng delivered like there was no tomorrow. Since the presentation was entirely in Chinese and I tried to use Google translate to explain the content of the screen, we understood almost nothing except the numbers and pictograms. Until finally the full product page was published and everything was clear.

Redmi Watch 4: HyperOS a fedélzeten

Compared to the Redmi Watch 3, the Redmi Watch 4 is a big leap forward in looks, design and most importantly, in features. The screen size has increased massively, from 1.75 to 1.97″ in diameter, but it's still LTPS AMOLED with 60 Hz refresh rate. Not only has the size increased by 26%, but the AOD consumption has decreased by 18% compared to the predecessor, so the larger battery can handle it better. Maybe the 600 nit brightness isn't visible from the moon, but at least it adjusts automatically using the ambient light brightener.

For the first time in Redmi's history, the screen and all the hardware is housed in an aluminium alloy casing surrounded by a stainless steel crown. The watch case is sandblasted and diamond polished to a beautiful smooth finish. Staying with the screen, HyperOS has over 200 factory accounts to perfectly match your fabric, metal, leather and TPU straps.

HyperOS

Redmi's first watch, already equipped with the new HyperOS. Think of it as almost the same thing inside the watch as on the phone, but in a small form factor. It doesn't have everything you'd find in a phone, but just enough of what you need for the watch. But it's more than the previous one. What happens on the phone, you can see on the watch, make calls, control smartphones and even communicate between watches. Not to mention the Xiaomi AI assistant. Although it only works outside and only in Chinese. But it can still be Alexa or Google.

Thanks to HyperOS, battery consumption scheduling is now also a task for artificial intelligence. Which is so well done that, according to Redmi's claim, with a 470 mAh capacity battery, it can last up to 20 days. The Redmi Watch 3 with 289 mAh battery lasted 12 days of general usage. The 4, by the way, lasts 10 days with continuous AOD and up to 30 days with everything off. I remember my Amazfit Bip watch lasted 92 days as a watch. Now that was something. The Watch 4 can totally recharge that battery in 85 minutes.

Other features

As it's a smartwatch, it's not short of features such as Bluetooth 5.3, which is also very low power. It has GPS, which supports Beidou, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS satellites. It can also be used to make payments, of course, but only in China, using NFC. There is no shortage of sensors: accelerometer, gyroscope sensor, optical heart rate and blood oxygen sensor, ambient light sensor, geomagnetic sensor. It knows more than 150 sports, and for professional sports, it even has voice guidance to help you prepare and stretch before and after the sport. Of course, this is just in Chinese again... And of course, there are water sports in this one, as it has a water resistance of 5ATM. The Redmi Watch 3 Active version left this out, even though it has water resistance.

On top of that, of course, it also measures heart rate, blood oxygen, all day, monitors women's cycles, counts calories and everything else a smartwatch could need.

Redmi Watch 4 price

The watch is only on sale in China for now, but like its predecessor, it will be coming to us next year. In the East, the price is 499 yuan ~ 24.300 Ft, which could be 29.990 Ft considering domestic pricing. That wouldn't be bad for what it can do. Would you buy it?
