The Redmi K70 series is here with good iron, better prices

Redmi's big end-of-year launch kicked off on Wednesday 29th at noon Hungarian time, with the unveiling of its annual flagship phones. Of course, a smartwatch, BT earpiece, notebook and a combination cooler were also unveiled. The Redmi K70 series delivered what we expected, good hardware, good features, at a great price.

The Redmi K70 series has a unified design, almost indistinguishable from the outside, with only the Redmi K70E getting a less striking back cover.

Those of you who follow the Facebook group posts are already pretty much aware of the Redmi K70 series features, but I haven't gone into the details yet. Now that we've had the unveiling, all the details have been revealed.What we already knew is the MediaTek Dimensity 8300-Ultra SoC, highly spiced with artificial intelligence knowledge, with HyperOS adding a spade to the mix. The whole system and SoC work together as a symbiosis, with the HyperOS AI layer tailoring the iron's efficiency to draw little power but deliver decent performance without heating up. Of course, that doesn't mean the phone doesn't get hot, it just means less of the processor will be powered even during the toughest games to use it as a heater in winter.

Its display is not high-end, nor is the whole phone intended to be, but it has the power and quality of the top of the range. 6.67″ in diameter, 1.5K resolution, 1.800 nit brightness, 1.920 Hz PWM dimming, 120 Hz refresh rate and 2.160 Hz sampling. The 6.67″ display has a total of 1,220 x 2,712 pixels and 12-bit colour depth. It's last year's top display, and this year it's the only entry-level Redmi in the top tier.

The camera trio is not amazing, but it's not bad either. It's simple for its kind, but better than its peers. The main camera is a 64 MP 1/2″ sensor with optical image stabilisation and 1.4μm 4in1 pixel stacking. As a second camera, it has a "slightly" weaker 8 MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a 120º field of view. The third is a joke. I won't even tell you... ok. 2 MP (laughing now) macro! And for selfies, a 16 MP was chosen, packed with all the goodies. Is it ok that the selfie camera is better than the two rear "beasts" combined????

If you've recovered from the laughter, let's move on, it's still far from dawn... In terms of battery, this is the best, almost in terms of capacity. 5.500 mAh fit in there so well, which can be sent with a 90 W buffer. It takes 15 minutes to charge 50%, and only 34 minutes to fully charge, which is a man's lunch.

And this is where the monkey jumped into the water, something we could only see and hear in the Note series. The K70E has become something of a bargain phone, the cheapest and weakest boasting 12 GB of memory and 256 GB of storage. The price is only 1.999 yuan ~ 97.000 HUF. Yes, but the others are not bad either:

I will be curious to see POCO X6 Pro what price it will be back on the domestic market.

Redmi K70

Well, after the Redmi K70 series' little darling, comes the big brother, which beats the little brother in everything. The display is 6.67″ in diameter, now with 2K resolution, 3200 x 1440 pixels, a brutal 4,000 nit brightness, 120 Hz refresh rate and 2,160 Hz sampling. But supercool 3,840 Hz PWM attenuation, which is really, but wouldn't you know it, a big leap in medical terms, because it does something amazing to protect your eyes. They spent about fifteen minutes on this at the presentation, talking about how well done the new screen is and how easy on the eyes it is. And then I tell you what else it does, smack down:

Well? Did you fall asleep too? We did at the show. But here are some more interesting facts, like the proci. I can't tell you much about it, it's got last year's Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which let's face it, will be flagship level for a few more years. It's also been beefed up by Redmi with a bit of artificial intelligence to take over for once.

But the camera! One good thing about it. And that's the proprietary Light Hunter™ 800 sensor! 50MP Ultra HD primary camera, Light Hunter™ 800 sensor, 1/1.55" high light sensor, F1.6 aperture, OIS optical image stabilization. It also has so many features that I could go on forever. And that's where the science stops, as the other two bins are just the average 8 MP ultra wide and the all IS good 2 MP macro.

As usual with Redmi, the price hasn't gone up here either. The Redmi K70 came to China at a very good price, but of course the question is always how much it will sell for in China under the name POCO. Well the price tags in China are as follows:

• 12/256 GB - 2.499 yuan ~ 121.500 Ft
• 16/256 GB - 2.699 yuan ~ 131.000 Ft
• 16/512 GB - 2.999 yuan ~ 146.000 Ft
• 16GB/1TB - 3.399 yuan ~ 165.000 Ft

And here's the dog buried! Now that's flagship for you. The Redmi K70 Pro has all the goodness you've listed so far, and of course, the best of everything. The screen is still the same 2K hyper-super resolution as the Redmi K70. The battery is only 5,000 mAh and 120 W of power. The main camera is also based on the Light Hunter™ 800 sensor and is identical in every way to the middle boy. But! And here comes the Pro stuff. The second camera is also 50 MP, although not with its own sensor, but it has at least 2x optical ZOOM and is mostly aimed at portraits. The third one is also pretty good, and it's 12 MP and has an ultra-wide angle of view. This camera trio is very capable, worthy of a Pro phone.

Then, what else is in it for the very Pro? Of course, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC! Needless to say, it's currently the best in the world that only an Android phone can get. It's in the Xiaomi 14/Pro phones too, so it's already very flagship. AnTuTu numbers are very giving, in fact the Chinese influencers really teased it with other benchmark apps and the 5,000 mm2 of cooling surface did its job properly. It kept a stable 60/90/120 FPS refresh rate without heating up as much as the predecessor phones. So quite a lot of work has also been done by Redmi to keep their top phone from having a tempering heater in winter.

You won't believe how much cheaper the best phones are out there. While at home you can get 3-400e for such knowledge, in your country it's ridiculously cheap. Let me show you:

Redmi K70 Pro Champion Edition

We already knew before the launch that there would be a Lambo Redmi K70 Pro Champion Edition, but not that it would look this good. Not just a simple colour+logo, but the camera continent has been custom made for it. On the original Remi K70 Pro phone it's rectangular, and on the Lamborghini version it's been matched to the back design.

Of course, not only the outside, but also the inside of the HyperOS has been adapted to its look, with a unique theme. Unfortunately, Redmi, at the launch, didn't reveal the price of the Champion Edition, as it won't be released until 2024 and is being kept under wraps until then. But if we go by the price of the Redmi K70 Pro 24GB/1T, since that's what it's made of, it could be as low as 4,999 yuan ~ $243,000. Wow...
