Things are heating up, until yesterday they were just rumours, yesterday the meme was confirmed, today it is fact. We know that the two new phones, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus, will be released on December 7. All we know so far is that they will be full-screen, 5.7 and 5.9″ in size, with an 18:9 aspect ratio. A Redmi 5 Plus has been on TENAA for a long time and now the Redmi 5 with two code names, MDT1 and MDE1.

According to the site, the Redmi 5 HD+, with a 5.7″ display diameter, 18:9 aspect ratio and 1440×720 pixel resolution that we already knew. Processor isn't specified here either, but all we know is that it's clocked at 1.8GHz. In terms of memory and storage, there will be a basic, low-cost 2/16, followed by two other larger siblings at 3/32 and 4/64. Battery life will be lower than expected, at just 3,200 mAh. At the back will be 12MP while the front will house 5MP camera sensors.

But let's come back to the processor for a few more words. 1.8GHz and handles 18:9 aspect ratio. These two values narrow it down to S636 and S450. The Snapdragon 450 is due for release in June, while the 636 is due in October. Wonder which one could make it into the Redmi 5? Let's compare the two contenders a bit.
