A few days ago, rumours surfaced that Redmi was working on the next generation, once again in partnership with processor manufacturer MediaTek. There have been quite a few articles and reports written about the processor itself in the Hungarian tech press, but we won't go into that now, but about the performance of the new Redmi phone.

To achieve an AnTuTu score, it's not enough to have iron, you also need good software to control it and exploit its potential. Although we have quite a few negative experiences with the Global MIUI systems, but like the phone itself, the Chinese MIUI is class-leading, not to mention the new features and quick bug fixes of the weekly beta roms. A score of 415,672 isn't a powerhouse at the moment, but when you consider that the MediaTek Dimensity 820 is designed for the mid-range, between the 800 and 1000 series, it takes on the competition in terms of performance.

From the current line-up, it's pretty clear that MediaTek has really hit the ground running, as they are dazzling the public with even stronger performance than this year's top mid-range. Although Qualcomm's 8 Series is not even trying to compete, it has already beaten the 7 Series, so it can offer the best possible performance and price in the segment to enable 5G network expansion.

Yes, we know, MediaTek hasn't even been able to catch up with the previous series, and the manufacturer, which has been subject to very mixed user reviews, may be able to shake off the perhaps unfairly negative labels with these new solutions. While Redmi is always trying something new, the latest Redmi Note 8 Pro hasn't performed as poorly as its predecessors. One day, it should be a worthy opponent to Qualcomm, which dominates the market.
