Xiaomi closed 2017 with the launch of the Redmi 5 and 5 Plus. The Mi 7 and Mi 7 Plus are expected to debut in March this year. Rumours are circulating about the alleged Mi MIX 2s, which could be the first flagship on the market equipped with an SD845 processor - ahead of the Samsung S9/S9 Plus. For weeks, leaks have also been coming out about the Mi Max 3, Redmi Note 5.
However, we also have the Mi A1 running Android One, which has been the subject of articles in recent weeks due to the constant Oreo update failures, shutdowns and re-releases.
This time, there has been some speculation about the likely successor.

According to information, the Mi A2 does not wait for the one-year period, so it is expected to go on sale in the world market in early spring. It will be more powerful in terms of hardware, so it will be in the upper mid-range category. For the outer casing, a metal and glass combination may appear, and you can expect even higher-quality machining. Extra features are also expected, such as a Gyroscope function (this will be used mainly for running AR games). There is also an improved fingerprint sensor, which could be built under the display. Expect an 18:9 display (HFD+ resolution) in 5.7" with excellent colour reproduction, and narrow bezels with GG4 protection. Face recognition using AI may also appear.

The rear dual camera remains unchanged, with two 12MP sensors, dual lenses (providing 2x optical zoom) with phase detection autofocus, dual LED flash.I should note here that Xiaomi could finally incorporate a Sony sensor here instead of the Omnivision one.

As for the front-facing camera, the Xiaomi Mi A2 will feature an 8 megapixel selfie camera with 1080p @ 30 frames per second video recording support.

The Xiaomi Mi A2 will come with Android 8.2 Oreo out of the box, and will be more powerful in terms of hardware, which could be the Snapdragon 640 Octa Core processor with Adreno 506 graphics and 4/6 GB of RAM.

Some believe that the Mi A2 could debut the second generation of Xiaomi's proprietary processor, the Surge S2.
In terms of storage, you can expect 64/128 GB, with microSD expansion slot of course, expandable up to 256 GB. So you won't be short of storage space for a while. Furthermore, to maximize performance, the Xiaomi Mi A2 can be equipped with a 3500 mAh battery that supports fast charging technology (QC3/4)
The Xiaomi Mi A2 is rumoured to already support Bluetooth 5.0, with the USB-C port remaining. Android 9.0 is expected to be among the first to arrive. The higher positioning could definitely bring an increase in price, but that's understandable.
