We're starting to really know a lot about Xiaomi's next flagship device, the plain Mi 9 has already been unveiled in several colours, but so far only the colourful backs and the 3-module camera unit, one of which is 48 MP. What we do know is that there will be a fingerprint sensor under the screen and it will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC.
A more interesting announcement from Xiaomi is the Mi 9 with a transparent back and four cameras. It will be an interesting launch next week, that's for sure. Many of the features are still a mystery, but we'll find out. But we have a guess on the price!
As with all phone launches, they are compared to the current competitors, in this case the Vivo X23, Huawei Nova 4, Honor View 20 and Oppo R17. The usual tease is that they don't reveal the price yet, they add a shovelful, but then everything is revealed with a bang. In retrospect, we know that they usually price it around the competition and based on the picture above, it will be priced below 3,999 Juan. We think 3,499 Yuan is ~$145,000. Also, the Mi 9 transparent version could reach 5,999 Juan, which is roughly 250,000 Ft. I'm not even calculating how much it will be by the time it gets here...
If you remember, the Mi 8 launched last year for 2.699 Yuan (~112.250 Ft) from China and now it's 144.900 Ft on the Mi Store shelf and 134.990 Ft at Xiaomishop. If we got the prices right, will it really cost/be worth that much more? Let's hope we've overshot it and it's on its way to Barcelona at a more affordable price, so that by the time it arrives we're not just looking at the launch price with round eyes.
