MIUI 12.5 was already released in December, but only for Chinese systems, and of course for custom ROMs based on it, such as xiaomi.eu. The Global Era, including the stable one (there is no other), will get the update months later. But we already know when and which phones will get it!

The Xiaomi Community, the official global forum, has today put up a recruitment post looking for applicants to test the Global Stable system. Although there are some conditions like having a rom, English knowledge, Telegram usage, etc. Applicants have to provide their Mi Account number and IMEI number of their phone, because only the selected devices will be sent the update OTA, so no one else can use it, so it can't be stolen. And the list of phones is as follows:

  • Mi 10T/10T Pro
  • Mi 9T
  • Redmi K20
  • Mi Note 10
  • Mi 9 SE
  • Redmi Note 9T
  • Mi 10T Lite
  • Mi 10i
  • Redmi Note 9 Pro
  • Redmi Note 9 Pro Max
  • POCO M2 Pro
  • POCO X3
  • Redmi Note 9
  • Redmi 9
  • Redmi 9 Prime
  • POCO M2
  • Redmi 9C
  • POCO C3
  • Redmi 9C NFC
  • Redmi 9A
  • Redmi Note 8
  • Redmi Note 8T
  • Redmi 9T
  • POCO M3

The list was copied from the original post, I didn't touch it on purpose because it's so jumbled that I assume it will be released in that order. So these phones are already 100% to receive the MIUI 12.5 Global Stable update. But when?

Applications will be accepted until 1 March 2021, so you can only wait for the public release after that, until then it's pointless to flood the forums and groups with questions about when it's coming. Be patient! My other concern about this is that by the time MIUI 12.5 is out to everyone, MIUI 13 will be well underway in China. At the end of May, the first closed beta updates are expected to be released, and in a good case, the smart users will be able to try them out...
