A new Mi Band 3 teaser has been released today, with images and text suggesting a smart bracelet with a SIM card. With no new smartwatch expected on Thursday, the Mi Band 3 is the only wearable device that could get this new feature. And the poster, which also features the China Unicom logo, clearly shows the outline of the Mi Band 3.

The picture shows a node with different icons: a car, a computer, a building, a truck, a shopping bag and a bank card. One of the texts says "connecting the world".

The shopping bag refers to the payment facilitation feature of the Mi Band 3, as it comes with a built-in NFC chip. We'll have to wait until Thursday to find out the details of the other features.

However, the China Unicom connection with the new smartband is odd, which could be a reference to the built-in eSIM. After all, why would a telecoms company's logo be on the poster of an activity wristband?

Among smartwatches, we've already seen eSIM-enabled models, such as the Apple Watch 3, and the Huawei Watch 2 Pro are also eSIM-enabled. Will it be GPS positioning? Although this has less to do with the icons seen in the picture. The new capabilities will certainly increase the price of the new gadget, which is not helped by the recently weakening forint-dollar exchange rate. Follow the launch on Thursday morning from 8am to find out all about the Mi Band 3.
