The new year for Mi A3 users has not been a good one so far: no recovery for phones bricked by Android 11 has been possible so far, as they don't know what caused the problem. However, the bug has been found and the solution has been found - and there's no need to take it to a service centre for advanced users.

I would start with this, because I don't think most users will spend the next few days bootloader flashing.

According to Xiaomi's announcement, everyone will have their phone repaired for free at the service centre, both under warranty and beyond.

Update: In Hungary they also fix this bug for free!

They also apologised for any inconvenience caused and thanked everyone for their understanding and support.

For those who want to be smart, do it at home

I'm telling you, you don't need to replace the motherboard, or take the phone apart. A so-called EDL cable can be used to put it into EDL mode, which can be used to restore a deep flashhel.

This is what the cable looks like, and yes, it has a button.

It's possible to make one at home, but I really only recommend it to people who know what they're doing.

Attention! Only do this if you understand what I am talking about and are familiar with the content of the following description. If you don't, you may do more damage than you have now, and since they'll fix it for free, you're better off going to a repair shop.

The description to you will find.

In the meantime, I found out that EDL mode cannot be activated by cable, so I have to disassemble the phone. This is the point where I really say no! If you haven't taken it apart, put it back together, don't know what the test points are and stuff like that, take it to a service, it's free and they'll fix it professionally.

New update

It seems to have worked for the second time: they have released the update again, but this time it doesn't cause such a problem. However, if you want to be really sure, wait a few more days before the "beta testers" discover the system.
