Redmi Note 12 Series released globally (spec+prices)

Yesterday, the Redmi Note 12 series was released without a presentation, simply plugged on the website. In Europe, 4 different models have arrived, catering to all needs.

Redmi Note 12 / 5G

The Redmi Note 12 and the 5G version are almost identical in everything but the processor. The camera, battery, charging, display, everything except the phone casing and a few little things. While the regular Note 12 uses the popular flat surfaces, while the 5G version rounder edges. The base Note is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 685 for performance and max 4G network, while 5G required Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 Soc.

I must say, there are some interesting facts on the official spec page. The typos are ok, but I didn't get an answer why the same main camera module in one is 48 MP and in the other 50 MP. The differences due to the features of the two SoCs are rnd, but the fact that they couldn't make the Android 13 base on the better, newer 5G processor is a shame.

Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G / Pro+ 5G

Compared to the first two phones, the Pro 5G and the Pro+ 5G are also very similar. Although there are subtle differences that define the target audience. The Pro 5G follows the flatter, sharper contours of the plain RN12, while the Pro+ 5G is rounder and more graceful. The processor, display, selfie camera, battery and other bits and pieces are exactly the same. The Pro+ 5G's camera is more advanced, with a 200 MP sensor in addition to a not-even-mediocre 8 MP super-wide and a ridiculous 2 MP macro.

Those few little things can make a big difference between the two phones. The 200 MP sensor certainly produces a better picture, but the IMX766 50 MP sensor is no slouch either. Battery charging in the Pro+ 5G phone is made possible by a Xiaomi-developed charging chip, which the regular Pro 5G doesn't have.

Redmi Note 12 Series prices

Well, the prices are only available on the Aliexpress Xiaomi Global Store page, nowhere is it uniformly stated what it will cost. The first physical unveiling will take place in Madrid, Spain, on March 25. The Redmi Note 12 series will be available for purchase on Aliexpress from 10 April at regular prices.

Good prices for the entire mid-range, the Redmi Note 12 series is a bargain! The simplest is under 65.000 HUF, the most expensive under 150.000 HUF. Now those are the real prices, not half a million. Let's hope that they don't put so much on it that the Pro+ 5G goes over 200.000. Would you buy it at the above prices?
