This afternoon we had a very short, slightly funny presentation. The event was the first to see the Poco M5 phone, which is in the brand's budget category, while the Poco M5s is aimed at the mid-range. It's been a year... :D

Poco M5

The Poco M5 is indeed a phone aimed at the lower end of the market. With a MediaTek Helio G99 processor, it's not a powerhouse, but it's enough for daily use. You can choose between 4 or 6 GB of memory and 64/128 GB of storage. The screen is an average 30-60-90 Hz dynamic refresh LCD screen with a 6.58″ diagonal. Its camera is quite modest, the main camera is 50 MP and is supported by a 2 MP depth sensor. The third is the usual (fun) 2 MP macro camera.

The design of the new Poco M5 is pretty great, and it comes in three colours, all with a leather back. It's both beautiful and useful. Its usefulness culminates in its fingerprint resistance. Back to the iron, power is provided by a 5,000 mAh battery with 18 W fast charge. But you get a 22.5 watt charger in the package.

In their press release, the Poco M5 offers an uncompromising gaming experience with an AnTuTu score of 378.436. That's about enough for 100th place on the list, with true gamer phones starting at over 800,000. Who understands this.

And now comes the fun part of the presentation... As this is the 2021 Redmi Note 10S re-released version. I'm still laughing... I don't either, you don't understand this method, why Xiaomi and its sub-brands do this. Anyway, they already released this once in India this year, as Redmi Note 11 SE. So, now that you're up off the ground, let's talk a little about the phone.

Poco M5s

The Poco M5s is based on a proven hardware foundation that has matured over 1.5 years. In terms of performance, it's below the Poco M5, as it's powered by last year's MediaTek Helio G95. It's a tad slower than the G99, but still usable. As with the M5, there's a choice of 4GB and 6GB of memory, and 64GB and 128GB of storage. Its screen is also a little smaller at 6.43″ and is inferior in both quality and performance. The camera is better, though, as it has a 64 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultra-wide lens, but of course the 2 MP depth of field and 2 MP macro are also present here. It also has a 5,000 mAh battery, but we've already included 33 W of fast charging, which we get a charger for.

Poco M5 and Poco M5s prices

  • Poco M5 4/64 GB - 189 € ~ 76.350 Ft
  • Poco M5 4/128 GB - 209 € ~ 84.420 Ft
  • Poco M5 6/128 GB - 229 € ~ 92.490 Ft
  • Poco M5s 4/64 GB - 209 € ~ 84.420 Ft
  • Poco M5s 4/128 GB - 229 € ~ 92.490 Ft
  • Poco M5s 6/128 GB - 249 € ~ 100.570 Ft

This will be interesting for us, as the Redmi Note 10S 6/64 GB is now around 80.000 HUF in a regular store... but we'll see how the pocoshop.hu how much will it be on the webshop. We'll come back with details when it's available in the domestic market.
