At the end of 2023, Xiaomi unveiled its first electric car family, simply called the Xiaomi SU7. The family is made up of three members, which is something we've become used to seeing in phones. But this is not news to my readers, I have been writing about the car for weeks, months. But now all is revealed about the cars!

I'm not going to turn you into an electric car influencer, there are the "experts" like András H., Autósámán, Pista Vályi, etc. I don't know anything about it, but based on the numbers and the reviews already published, I can say that Xiaomi's electric car is very well done. According to the factory figures. The tests are just now being run to verify the manufacturer's claims, so I'll write about those soon. Now let's see the dry numbers.

Data from the Xiaomi SU7 MAX details, the compare, at the end of the article.

Performance

0-100 km/h in 2.78 seconds. Now that's a pretty good figure, as it literally puts it in the top 5 in the world. The Porsche Taycan Turbo S Sport Turismo has similar figures, Maserati GranTurismo Folgore 2.7 and the best is the Tesla Model S Plaid with 2.1 seconds. So TOP5 in the acceleration field is Xiaomi!

265 km/h maximum speed. Now that's the basics Xiaomi HyperEngine Super Motor V6 can, with 21.000 RPM revs. Xiaomi Super Motor's self-designed electric motors are equipped with different knowledge, so there will be a choice of price and performance in the future.

  • Xiaomi Super Motor V6: 21,000 RPM | 299LE | 220kW | 400Nm | 400V
  • Xiaomi Super Motor V6s: 27,200 RPM | 374LE | 275kW | 500Mn | 800V
  • Xiaomi Super Motor V8s: 27,200 RPM | 425kW (from 2025)

Battery

The About Xiaomi SU7 battery but it's still not one of the best on the market. 101 kWh doesn't even put it in the top 10, but that wasn't the goal. If Tesla's performance was in the manufacturer's sights, it was easily surpassed, as 95 kWh was easily achieved. It's about on par with the Volvo EX90 Single Motor, BMW i7 xDrive60 and Rolls-Royce Spectre battery packs.

But the range! 800 km is promised by the manufacturer! Yeah, but how? In laboratory conditions or on public roads? No way. That's the maximum they've ever got out of it. But that will never happen, because you're not driving it alone, you'll have luggage in the car, -10 degrees, a family of 4, etc. and it'll be 5-600. But they've already reached the maximum that current manufacturers can get out of electric cars. That's already enough.

Software

Oh yes. As I wrote long ago, the Soul of Xiaomi SU7 electric car will also be the HyperOS, which has been in the news lately. Not exactly the same as in the phones, a bit of rewriting here and there. Not to be confused with the global version, which is so well known in our country, which has been neutered for the sake of the EU. The Chinese MIUI and now HyperOS is light years more stable and reliable than this thing in our country.

But it's not just a regular OS, it's packed with all the goodies you need in an electric car. In addition to the basic functions like full car management, the huge 161″ display can fit information in up to 3 windows. In one you can push the car, in the other you can navigate, while in the third you see the phone screen. Oh yeah, no more Android cars and other junk, the HyperOS systems transfer all the functions between each other without any hocus-pocus!

Oh yeah, the physical buttons under the screen, an optional extra so you don't have to press the screen to use the fan, climate control, and other daily functions. Some more info on the slots, boots in 1.49 seconds, laggy (but really), OTA updates usually take 3 minutes, the worst case was 30 minutes which was measured. Redundant backup, if something goes wrong, it'll put it back up and running in no time. Of course, there is no update on the fly, just for the amusement of the trolls.

Thanks to the new system integration, smart home products are also available on it, and even those intended for cars can be managed directly from the car, without the need for a phone. Phones with HyperOS have full functionality available on the car screen, call answering and starting, texting, messaging, email, music and everything else. I could go on and on.

Intelligent driving

One thing that cannot be left out of a hyper-super electric car is self-driving, or auto-pilot, or self-driving. Xiaomi Pilot is a very mature technology based on what we have seen and heard. It has performed excellently in demonstrations and in previously posted videos, without any human intervention. There is, for example, the adaptive ZOOM BEV technology, which adjusts the range of the sensors as a function of speed. When you're looking for a parking space, it measures all distances and detects all objects up close and extremely accurately. And if you've got a team on the track, it extends the measurement ranges several times, so it can react to the emergency, even for you, and survive when it's unavoidable. But that's the point, to avoid any situation where property damage or lives are at stake. Plus, it makes decisions on the spot, not based on a pre-loaded map, so anything that changes along the way, it reacts immediately and decides where to go next.

The AI software and all the Xiaomi sensors work together in some brutal way, yes, according to the tests. Reality will confirm or disprove it.

Xiaomi SU7 vs Xiaomi SU7 MAX

As I wrote at the beginning, it's all about the SU7 MAX version. The regular SU7, will be inferior and cheaper. The picture above shows very well what it is all about. Weaker, slower, runs less... er 668 km is still the best. It stops slower, which means more stopping distance. Speaking of stopping distances, which we haven't talked about yet. The SU7 MAX stops in 33.3 m from 100 km/h, while the SU7 stops in 35.5 m. The stop is not so different as the acceleration and top speed. Even 5.28 seconds is very little to get from 0 to 100 km/h, and the top speed of 210 km/h is not too little compared to the max on Hungarian motorways of 130 km/h. Oh well, as everyone knows, the good petrolheads average 150 and the green ones average 90-100 between trucks to get there. Although I've encountered all-electric cars going the same "normal" speed as us.

Xiaomi SU7 price

Xiaomi has not yet announced any price for its electric cars, but Xiaomi CEO, the Xiaomi CEO has revealed a price segment where the Xiaomi SU7 MAX could be placed. He puts it exactly below a figure of 500,000 yuan ~ 70,000 $ ~ 64,000 € ~ 24,400,000 Ft. So the MAX will not be more expensive than that, which would be a good price for what it can do. But we know Xiaomi and it will undercut the price of any comparable electric car. The regular Xiaomi SU7 is rumoured to come in at around 45,000 $ ~ 15,600,000 Ft, so it could come to Europe. We won't know the exact prices until February, before the sales start!

So I could fill an article of this length on each aspect of the Xiaomi SU7 separately, and maybe I will if you ask me to. There's a lot of info left out that might not be that interesting to the average person, but it will tell car experts something. I'll also keep you up to date on the Facebook group, it's worth joining!
