As most of us know, Huami has produced most of the wearable smart devices for Xiaomi, like the Mi Band series or the well-known Amazfit series. Nowadays, it's almost unthinkable to lack such a gadget, be it from Fitbit, Apple, or any other manufacturer, the demand is insatiable.

However, the company said at its annual strategic media communications meeting today that it has not signed any exclusive agreement or contract with Xiaomi for its upcoming Mi Band smart wearable.

Although rumours that Huami had already started working on the next version, the Mi Band 5, were dismissed shortly after the release of the Mi Band 4. After that, the company's CEO only confirmed that the two companies are working on several joint projects, but no specific exclusivity deal has been made.

Wang Huang, the head of the company, also said that there was a misunderstanding about the cooperation between Huami and Xiaomi. In support of this claim, it also mentioned that the two companies are preferred partners, with identical terms and conditions that favour both parties.

So it turns out that Huami has not signed a contract with Xiaomi to develop and design the Mi Band 5. The close relationship between the two companies will of course remain, their products are closely related, support will not be lost. Somehow, I have the feeling that with the launch of the Xiaomi Mi Watch, a new branch in the wearable smart devices market is being launched, although they are not innovating almost anything, but once again conquering the world with their price/value ratio.
