The company's first electric car, the Xiaomi EV, will be launched in 2024. The car will be a small crossover SUV that will theoretically have a 70 kWh battery. It will have a range of about 400 km. The price of the car is expected to be around USD 20 000.
The Xiaomi EV will be a modern, innovative car with many features not found in other electric cars. The car will be equipped with a 12.3-inch digital dashboard and a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The car will have a voice control system, a self-driving feature and a 360-degree camera system.
That's pretty much all we know so far about Xiaomi's electric car. In addition to a lot of leaked info and rumours, something tangible has finally hit the internet recently. Even the battery pack of the upcoming Xiaomi EV or one of the models.
Xiaomi electric car battery pack
The picture of the battery pack was posted by a Chinese car blogger, and Xiaomi has since been working hard to make it disappear. No wonder, as they immediately made a few jokes. But let's see what the sticker on the battery of the Xiaomi electric car says.
- Model: A1310C
- Manufacturer code: f47832
- Lithium-ion battery
- Voltage 726,7V
- Battery capacity: 139.0 Ah, 101.0 kWh
- Weight: 642,0 kg
From the above parameters, it can be seen that the battery is expected to support 800 V high voltage fast charging with a capacity of 101 kWh. The Chinese blogger noted that it may not be a simple battery cell, but "should be a tri-component lithium version".
In terms of capacity, the Xiaomi EV1 can be placed alongside current market players such as the KIA EV9 AWD, Volvo EX90 and BMW i7 series. But of course, it will be more lucrative in price, probably only in China, but rumours suggest it could go global in 2024. We'll wait for further developments, because there's still plenty of time before then and the competition isn't sitting on its laurels.
