In the recently released beta Mi Fit app, we stumbled upon a new smart device that we've heard about in foreign rumours, something called "DongTingHu". It's actually a well-known lake in China, Lake Tungting. We had no idea what was behind it, for the time being we chalked it up to the new Pace 2 watch, but as it turns out, it's the Amazfit Bip 2. Or it already is.

In the Mi Fit app, it's already there in the firmware files as "Mili_dth...", so it's still running under the codename "DongTingHu", but it's got a name. Amazfit Bip 2!

Moving inwards to the Mi Fit Amazfiz Bip 2 is already in the xml files, and there is no doubt that it will be released soon.

That's a fact. Bip 2 is coming! But what can we expect from the new watch? GSP, accelerometer, heart rate sensor, compass and NFC. Of these, only NFC is new and we hope it will not be just another Chinese feature, but will be available globally. The original discovery isn't ours, it was discovered by a Spanish site (AndroidTR.es) in the Mi Fit beta released 3 days ago. Upon further investigation, the watch will also have a "Sport mode" and even internal storage, which we don't know yet what it will be used for, like Pace or Stratos for listening to music or just storing data.

The Amazfit Bip 2 may be launched later this year, alongside the Mix 3, but as we know it is not a "blood child" of Xiaomi, but runs under the name Huami, but it is still a member of the family. So it will not be announced by Xiaomi. But maybe it's just a dream for this year's unveiling, we'll see. In terms of price, hopefully it will be under 100$ compared to its predecessor and with all its goodness, we will get a slightly beefed up version. We'd love a Bip 2 under the Christmas tree...
