This morning, 2 days before the launch, another Note phone was revealed. Redmi's official Weibo page gives us the lowdown on the phones that will be released on Thursday. The third new phone is the Redmi Note 12 Pro+, which comes with a flagship camera that only Xiaomi's top phones have so far, the Samsung ISOCELL HPX.

HPX doesn't mean much to everyone, but I'll shoot the joke. This is the Samsung 200 MP ISOCELL HPX light sensor! So which phone did we meet it in? Yes, the Xiaomi 12T Pro, which was recently added to the DXOMark list. On this list Redmi has never been ranked well, currently only 77th with the Redmi Note 11S 5G. It might be catching up, but that's not why we love the Redmi Note series.

Samsung ISOCELL HPX

The ISOCELL HPX is a new member of Samsung Electronics' 200 megapixel sensor family. Thanks to Samsung's smallest pixel size of 0.56 microns, it can continue to provide smartphone users with ultra-high resolution images. According to Samsung's announcement, images can retain 12.5 megapixels of sharpness even when magnified up to four times the original image size with the 200 megapixel ISOCELL HPX.

ISOCELL's HPX DTI (Deep Trench Isolation) technology not only isolates individual pixels, but also increases sensitivity for clear and vivid images. In addition, the 0.56 micron pixel size reduces the camera module area by 20%, resulting in a slimmer and smaller phone body.

The ISOCELL HP also uses Tetra^2pixel (sixteen pixels in one) technology, which automatically switches between three light-gathering modes depending on the lighting conditions. In well-lit environments, pixel size remains 0.56 microns at 200 megapixels; in low-light environments, pixels are converted to 1.12 microns at 50 megapixels; and in low-light environments.

This technology enables the ISOCELL HPX to deliver an excellent shooting experience in low light conditions, and to return the sharpest, clearest photos possible even in limited light.

The ISOCELL HPX allows users to shoot 8K video at 30 frames per second and supports smooth, dual high dynamic range in 4K and FHD (Full HD) modes. Single-frame progressive HDR, supported by Intelligent ISO Pro technology, captures shadows and highlights in a scene with three different exposures: low, medium and high, depending on the shooting environment.

The combination of three exposures delivers high quality HDR images and videos, and allows the sensor to display images in more than 4 trillion colours (14-bit colour depth), 64 times more than Samsung's predecessor, with 68 billion colours (12-bit colour depth).
