The DXOMARK rankings change year on year as mobile phone manufacturers continue to develop phones with better and better camera systems. This is nothing new, every brand has its top device in this segment. Xiaomi is also making a big effort to have one phone in the top spot every year, but of course so are other manufacturers. Right now, the Honor Magic 4 Ultimate is king.
The first place was recently taken by Honor Magic 4 Ultimate phone, beating the best-performing phone ever, the Huawei P50 Pro. A Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra was in the top spot before Huawei's launch, but has since been relegated to the bottom of the podium.
The Honor Magic 4 Ultimate camera is so good that it rivals cameras with 1" sensors and f/1.8 lenses, says Honor. DXOMark tested the phone and awarded it 146 points, beating the previous leader Huawei P50 Pro by 2 points.
The Ultimate Edition consists of 4 excellent camera units, 2 pcs. 50 MP and 2 64 MP image sensors:
- Wide: 50MP, f/1.6 aperture, 1/1.12" sensor, 1.4 µm pixel, 8P lens
- Ultra-Wide: 64MP, f/2.2 aperture 1/2" sensor, 126° FOV, 7P lens
- Tele: 64MP, f/3.5 aperture, 1/2" sensor, 90mm lens, OIS, 3.5x optical zoom
- Spectrum Enhanced: 50MP, f/2 aperture, 8×8 dToF sensor, 8 channel sensor
The improved cameras are supported by a unique image processing processor designed specifically for this phone, offering 28.8 TOPS peak performance with 13.4 TOPS energy efficiency per watt. It processes images from the camera at 20 bits per channel and offers 4K night mode with live preview.
Price
This technology is not cheap! In fact, it's damn expensive! The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra was not cheap either, at 6,499 Yuan ~ 337,230 Ft. But the Honor with a price tag of 7,999 Yuan ~ 415,000 Ft seems expensive even in China. Nothing is known about its European price as it is not yet planned to be imported.
We're curious to see when and what Xiaomi will do this year, with rumours that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra is already in the pipeline, which could put the company in the top spot, like the Mi 11 Ultra last year.
