With the festive season approaching, Google Maps' new feature will soon be a big help, providing you with congestion data for more than just public transport and stops.

We love Christmas, but not always the festive shopping that goes with it. The hunt for presents, the long queues and crowded shops can be annoying in themselves, and during a crown virus outbreak they can be even more dangerous. Google is now trying to address this with a feature with the introduction of, which can provide users with real-time congestion data.

For some time now, the Google Map crowd-tracking features, which will soon be extended to fairs, markets, malls, airports, museums and other important places to help users avoid crowds. "Want more information? Tap on a neighbourhood and see how busy it is at different times of the day, as well as what it has to offer in terms of restaurants, shops and leisure facilities (such as a museum), so you can easily decide whether you want to visit it" - reads the company's blog post.

According to Google, the new feature will arrive on all Android and iOS platforms before the holidays, but as usual, some extra features will only be available in the US. The search giant says the data and information offered by the map service will help make Christmas as stress-free as possible.
