This morning, at 9am Hungarian time, the launch of Black Shark, Xiaomi's new gamer phone, started. Where can we still improve? There are innovations!

The Black Shark is aimed at the true mobile gamer, like Asus and Razer, with fantastic performance, display and accessories that are slowly catching up to the performance of a desktop PC. It's also perfect for everyday use, with a 48 MP camera for brilliant pictures.

Naturally, it's powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC with Andreno 640 GPU. The 855 Plus, according to the manufacturer, offers 15% better graphics performance than its predecessor, along with multi-fiber 4G internet and a much faster 5G network! Of course, the accumulated heat is dampened with improved liquid cooling.

"Black Shark 2 Pro with Qualcomm® AI engine can achieve fast, smooth and energy efficient gaming. Combine these benefits with true HDR quality and premium audio. You'll get a fully immersive, outstanding experience unlike any other device."

It features a 6.39″ FHD+ AMOLED display with brighter colours, lower power consumption and improved DC 2.0 technology.

But the significant improvement is in the touch surface, with the SD855+ SoC, which has increased touch sampling to 240Hz, reduced response time to 34.7ms and can detect touch on a 0.3mm surface. Providing gamers with even more precise movement and aiming.

The storage, and therefore file speeds, have improved dramatically with USF3.0 technology, which is what you need for the brutally fast 12 GB of memory.

Of course, you'll need power to keep up with the performance, which is provided by the 4,000 mAh battery, but if you get carried away, or even if you get caught up in the game, you'll be fine, as you can recharge the battery in no time with a 27W fast charger.

Not only in hardware, but also in software, the 2 Pro has been improved, with a host of features to make games even faster and smoother, 60 FPS in Fortnite, and even the interface has been updated to 4.0.

It has also "evolved" a little in terms of looks, although the black and green combo gave it a real gamer feel, but the new design may be more popular with a wider audience.

It is said to have a better grip than its predecessor and is available with the same bumpers. No other accessories have been mentioned yet, maybe later, but then the high-tech display will be gone and it will be input-lagged again.

In addition to the colours, the phone will be available in two packs in China from 02.08.2019:

  • Black Shark 2 Pro 12/128GB - 2.999 Yuan ~ 128.020 Ft
  • Black Shark 2 Pro 12/256GB - 3.499 Yuan ~ 149.360 Ft

The price outside of China will be higher, but the better-known eastern online stores will also make a pretty big profit, so if you're not fanatical enough, wait a while for it to come to your country at a normal price.
