The Mi 8 EE teased the public for a very long time with its transparent back. Back last year, in May 2018, it was released alongside the Mi 8, Mi 8 SE and Mi Band 3. The hardware is almost the same as the Mi 8, with a 6.21″ FHD+ AMOLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, 4GB/64GB and 8GB/256GB RAM and ROM pairs, 3,000 mAh battery, two 12MP rear cameras and a 20MP front camera.
In addition to the design back, Mi8 EE was also famous for the pressure-sensitive fingerprint reader under the screen and the 3D face recognition technology next to the front camera. 3D face unlock has not been included in any other device since then, and the Mi 8 Pro only features infrared face scanning.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition has never officially left the Chinese market, but it has all the hardware to be released in Europe, as it has B20/800MHz. This has been a big mistake... until now, as XDA developers have once again found a code snippet referring to the new device, and the phone code name "ursa_global", which is actually "小米手机8透明探索版 国际版", which roughly translates to "Mi Mi Mi 8 Transparent Explorer Version International Edition". So it will be "Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition International Version" if we understand the Chinese characters correctly.
Unfortunately, we have no further information on whether the Global version will come with the same hardware as the original Chinese version, nor when. If it is introduced, it will probably get the general international equipment and hopefully a good price tag, in addition to the multilingual Global rom. Because it doesn't hurt, because currently in China it's 2,999 Yuan (123,340 Ft) for the 6/128 and 3,199 Yuan (131,565 Ft) for the 8/128. Wait for it.
