Xiaomi is recalling 10257 Xiaomi M365 electric scooters due to a safety issue. Of the units sold in Hungary, 34 are affected.

 

The problem

A screw involved in the folding process may loosen, causing the vertical component to separate from the main body during use. In other words, the vertical part, the "handlebars", can easily come off the bottom when you are approaching it, which is not a minor mishap, but a serious problem.

 

Numbers, countries, dates

As I wrote in the introduction, a total of 10257 problem products were sold around the world Between 27 October 2018 and 5 December 2018. That's no small number, but most importantly, of these 34 in Hungary.
Most defective products were sold in the United Kingdom 7406 units, 613 units in Germany, 509 units in Spain, 443 units in Ireland, 258 units in Denmark, 200 units in Kazakhstan, 175 units in Myanmar, 97 units in Colombia, 80 units in Turkey, 79 units in Laos, 37 in Italy, 31 in Greece, 30 in Korea, 25 in Macao, 22 in the United Arab Emirates, 17 in Belgium, 16 in Portugal, 14 in Singapore, 1 in Russia, 1 in Thailand, and 169 in unspecified locations.
These figures may vary due to transport between countries.

 

The recall programme

The recall will be launched in the UK on 26 June, and in other countries, including hopefully ours 1 July start.
Xiaomi asks M365 users to make sure that they check the serial number of the scooter you ownwhether it is not among the products concerned. They have expressed their sincere apologies to the manufacturer of the M365 and are working to resolve the issue, but urge anyone who has a faulty item in their possession to please report any loose screws, don't try to fix it yourself. It is also reported that home repaired scooters are not eligible for recall.

 

The types concerned

The following serial numbers are affected:
21074/00000316 to 21074/00015107 or
16133/00541209-tól 16133/00544518-ig
The serial number is located on the side of the bottom of the scooter.

How can I check if I have a faulty M365 and what should I do if I do?

This page at the bottom of the page, you can check if you have purchased one of the problematic M365s by entering the serial number. If so, we need to upload a photo of the serial number we took, our name, phone number, email address and the region where we purchased the product. Once you have accepted the privacy policy, we will send you the form. Xiaomi promises to send you information on how to proceed within 72 hours.
