You may be right that they are releasing a bit more of this than they should, we were hoping Black Shark would only be an annual, but the Helo intermediate version seems to disprove that. The other day a rumour was also confirmed which hinted at the nickname, or rather codename, of the new gamer phone. The code name of the Black Shark phone on the Chinese 3C site is SKW-A0, and the rumour was Skywalker, which in hindsight doesn't sound too unbelievable.

It's not clear from the 3C's info page, but a Geekbench test a while back told us that this would be the Black Shark 2.

According to both sites, the Black Shark 2 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC, which will be powered by the Android 9 operating system. Gaming fluidity will be ensured by a minimum of 8 GB of RAM and certainly a new liquid cooling solution. It will be very similar internally to the recently released Mi 9, as it will also get 27 W of fast charging, not to mention a massive 12 GB of memory compared to the Alita version. The camera will not be its strong point, as it hasn't been so far, but the main focus will be gaming, which will be made more convenient in software by the new Game Turbo.

As with the Black Shark Helo, the camera layout remains the same, as the phone is thicker than average, like the Mi 9, yet it still sticks out more than before. This suggests that a larger camera module has been added and perhaps the imaging quality has improved. The design remains the typical Black Shark, with a black casing, neon green stripe and piano lacquer finish.

No word yet on price or release, but the above facts suggest it's very close. We'll be back as soon as we have any important information!
