As difficult as it was to start, this show took so long. The announcement was that it was to start at 7:00 Hungarian time, but of course it was delayed by 20 minutes. Well, come on...

The full presentation was given by the CEO of Xiaomi, Xiaomi CEO for almost 3 hours, talking continuously about the new devices. This time, there was no usual earnings announcement in the introduction, only the spin-off of the Redmi brand.

Xiaomi Mi 9 / Mi 9 Transparent Edition

After a few minutes, he got straight to the point, the Mi 9 presentation. Given the events of the last few days, you might well ask what he has to say about it. Well.

He first discussed the back of the Mi 9 at great length. The colour production, the reflection technology, holographic effect, were all difficulties, but luckily they managed to mass produce it in 3 colours. There was a little news a few days ago about the difficulties in manufacturing the back cover, although this will still affect availability. We will see!

Not only have they put a huge amount of effort, but they've also spent a lot of time and energy designing Mi 9. Rounding the corners, line of the edges, camera placement, minimizing the thickness, just to name a few. They practically combined engineering precision with artistic freedom.

Mi 9 designers Zhu Yin, Cai Yangyang, Wei Xu and Wu Ning interpret the process of creating the phone.

Then the screen began to be scaled out, sticking with AMOLED technology because LCD cannot yet pass the fingerprint reader built into the screen to be usable. This Xiaomi CEO he also sadly noted... However, unlike the higher price, it has several positive features, not to mention the drastic reduction in consumption with the introduction of the dark system.

  10. Corning sixth generation Gorilla Glass (Gorilla Glass 6)
  11. With greaseproof fingerprint
  12. HDR display

Fingerprint reader built under the screen, 25% faster than Mi8. Almost as fast as capacitive back readers.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC is nothing new, everyone has known for days that it would be included. 45% acceleration over the previous processor, which is beyond human comprehension. We've been happy with the graphics performance of the SD845 so far, I don't know where else it can be improved. The result will be that game makers will be able to exploit the potential of the new chip and games will be more enjoyable.

Adding to this is the new GAME TURBO, the Game Accelerator feature that turns off all distractions, removes the sound from notifications, provides players with a special menu, and even gives CPU/GPU/FPS data. This also shows up in the AnTuTu scores.

The Mi 9 AI triple camera is made up of three modules:

  1. Samsung S5K3M5, 12 MP, 1.0 μm, 1/3.6″ light sensitive area, FOV 43.6°, f/2.2 aperture, 6P lens, AF, closed loop motor
  2. SONY IMX586, 48 MP, 0.8 μm, 1/2″ light sensing area, FOV 79°, f/1.75 aperture, 6P lens, AF, closed loop motor, 4 in 1 (12MP, 1.6 μm)
  3. SONY IMX481, 16 MP, 1.0 μm, 1/3″ light sensitive area, FOV 117°, super wide angle of view, f/2.2 aperture, 6P lens, AF, closed loop motor, 4 cm macro
  4. Dual-tone LED flash

The big advantages of the lower 16 MP Sony sensor are the super wide angle of view and 4 cm macro.

The Mi 9 also managed to score better on the DxOMark list.

Finally! Xiaomi has become the best in video recording quality! So far, they have been unable to make it into the top 10, let alone be the first... In the still image creation, the Mi 9 has fought its way up to third place. Congratulations!

We already know the 960 FPS slow-motion recording, the rear camera is capable of 120/240/940 FPS at 720/1080p resolution.

But the DxOMARK results are due to new features such as "motion tracking". Imagine gliding down a slope after a companion and holding the phone in your hand, turning the feature on, then the software cuts out a moving figure on the screen at 4K resolution and the result looks like it was shot by a poisonously expensive Hollywood professional cameraman. Shaky and motionless.

The front-facing camera has also improved, not in pixel count, but in quality and software knowledge. The beautification feature is more like a digital surgeon, as it can also redraw the lines of the face or body in a way that looks completely natural to the naked eye.

Sony 20 MP front-facing camera 0.9 μm, f/2.0 aperture, HDR, Full screen, Countdown, Face detection, Mirror, Age detection, Sleepy eyes, AI Intelligent Beauty (Baby beauty), AI Portrait mode, AI Scene camera, AI Studio lighting effect

It automatically recognises your age, gender and, if you want, can completely reshape your body to make you more beautiful and attractive. It's all the rage in China. Not a fashion, but a way of life. Of course, all this is alien to us Europeans, because we know that after this, the Internet will be an even bigger lie than before. Besides, for Hungarian women it's a completely unnecessary function, because they are the most beautiful women in the world! ;-)

The battery capacity of the Xiaomi Mi 9 is shockingly small (Check out the SE below).3.300 mAh is so far the smallest among the recently released top phones. Last time the Mi 5 didn't have one this small. But. Xiaomi CEO explained that with the dark mode, the SD855 and the AMOLED display, this is affordable as they can keep the power consumption down so much that you won't be disappointed. The 27W mains charger and 20W wireless charger add to this!

But if that's not enough, you can also buy a Xiaomi 10,000 mAh external battery with 10 W wireless charging, or an automatic car charger with 20 W wireless charging. Wherever you go, it will never let you down!

Infrared remote control, NFC and programmable AI button

NO B20! Unfortunately, the Xiaomi Mi 9 Chinese edition does not include the 800 MHz frequency that Hungarians covet so much. Maybe they will bring it to us on Sunday, at MWC!

Xiaomi Mi 9 Transparent Edition (Alita version)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jto3pYBLlq0

Alita the warrior angel, or the Xiaomi Mi 9 Transparent edition is not much different from the "regular" Mi 9. The 48 MP Sony camera sensor has got an improved lens with f/1.47 aperture and chromatic aberration reduction. The memory has been swollen to 12 GB and the back is transparent like the Mi 8 EE. Just that the under-casing visual element, because of course it's also fake as the bad tongues call it, is not only beautiful but also plays a role in heat dissipation.

Xiaomi Mi 9 SE

The Xiaomi Mi 9 SE was a big surprise, love at first sight. And the price was an absolute bonus! The difference between the two phones is the smaller screen (5.97″), smaller and lighter body (147.5×70.5×7.45, 155g), weaker SoC (SD712), smaller battery (3,070 mAh), weaker charger (17 W) and no wireless charging. Everything else is the same in both phones, with the triple rear camera module, front camera, memory, back, AMOLED screen, under-screen fingerprint reader, NFC, GPS, infra, etc.

This is a good choice! If it had B20 in it, but it doesn't. We'll also have to wait for the Barcelona launch to see if it gets it and becomes a hit phone.

Xiaomi touch screen smart home controller

The latest addition to the AIoT, a Gateway controller with a touchscreen display, has been unveiled. Not only can you control functions with your finger on its interface, but you can also voice command it, XiaoAI helps you with everything. Unfortunately, it's only in Chinese. But at last you've created a high-tech gadget that's truly sci-fi and extremely useful. In addition to these functions, it can do clock, calendar, alarm, TV, display, media centre and many other interesting things. You can record alarm videos to wake up to your loved one's ringing voice (imagination is a must), or see the images of your cameras on it, like the wireless camera doorbell or baby monitor... and the surprise is that everyone gets one as a gift.

Find out more about it here

It will be available in China from 28 February.
