We've already written about Xiaomi's next big drummer, which is a selfie camera hidden under the screen, we have posted several articles on Facebook about it, but so far only the problems have prevented us from having a finished, working version. So far.

In June 2019, Lin Bin presented a prototype that was already working, but could not be used in civilian applications until the technology was perfected. Which seems to have been achieved.

The Letsgodigital has once again been astute, and has stumbled across plans for a new Xiaomi phone in Chinese patent applications, already with a camera unit hidden under the screen. In fact, the company has filed a patent for the technology, which is just one step away from filing. It's by no means certain that we'll see it this year, although it would be awesome if the Mi Mix 4 showed it off, because it's probably the line we're expecting the most innovation from.

The technology is based on the idea that when you activate the selfie camera, the part of the screen that is shot through the camera lens becomes transparent without distortion. Neither the amount of incident light nor distortion is allowed, which has so far set this solution back.

Although based on the rendered images, it is not certain that the Mix series will continue. The images above look like a Mi 9 from last year, not sure if it will look like this in real life, please treat it as such!
