Xiaomi today announced on its official Weibo page that production of the Chinese CC9 Pro model, known in Europe as the Mi Note 10 and Mi Note 10 Pro, has ended.

The manufacturer's first 108MP 5-camera (penta) smartphone has won numerous awards in its 4-month lifespan. Among other things, the CC9 Pro Premium Edition (Mi Note 10 Pro) took first place in DxOMark's test. 121 points were enough to get to the top of the podium.

I had the pleasure of testing the emerald green version of the CC9 Pro for almost two weeks, and then the Mi Note 10 for a few days. The test by clicking here you can read.

Although the camera quality and the Vlog mode, introduced here for the first time, produced outstanding performance - almost making the phone suitable for film production - the associated processor and the sluggish backend spoiled the overall picture. Moreover, during the first few firmware versions, even the battery life wasn't that outstanding, as a brutal 5260mAh capacity was only accompanied by a Snapdragon 730G mid-range SoC, with a low power consumption on paper. All in all, however, it's a great device if the edge (curved) display and the hefty weight (208g) aren't a hindrance for us. Furthermore, the omitted notification LED and wireless charging were not justified in terms of purchase price.

Interestingly, it was announced just a day earlier that Android Q, or Android 10, will arrive in April.

Why are they being phased out so soon?

The answer - although not public - is likely to be the launch of the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro 5G today (27 March). For the manufacturer, it is important to make the latest flagship available in as many countries as possible and bring in the expected volume in sales. Although the Indian show postponed (due to the crown virus), it will be the first high-end Xiaomi model to be launched in India in a long time.

So Xiaomi is focusing full steam ahead on the 5G era, with their latest device just unveiled a few days ago Redmi K30 Pro under the name.

The Mi Note 10 name also confused many people (mostly new fans), as you confused it with the Mi 10 model by omitting the "Note" designation. This year, the introduction of different names per region will continue, as the Redmi Note 9 Pro launched in India will be available as Redmi Note 9S (not expected to be available in China), while the Chinese K30 Pro will be available as Poco F2 in India, and the Mi 10T or Mi 10T Pro in the US.

So support will not stop for the Mi Note 10 /Pro either, it will just be discontinued once stocks run out.
The CC9 Pro has already been withdrawn from the Chinese site, and is expected to be discontinued in Europe in April.
