As you may have read in many places, Huawei is not allowed to use Google Mobile Services on its latest devices. In practice, this means that, although the devices are running Android, because it is open source, anyone can use it, but the most popular official Google apps will not work. You won't find the Play Store itself, Gmail, YouTube, Chrome, Drive, etc. These are replaced with their own apps, for example on the recently released P40 Pro. This is not a big problem in China, but it is in European countries.

Smartphone manufacturers are also used to trolling and joking with each other, pointing out the flaws in each other's devices. This is what Xiaomi has now done, with the box of its latest Mi 10 Pro bearing the inscription "with easy access to the Google apps you use most", thus telling Huawei that it can use them.

This kind of humour has only been afforded by 3 flagship manufacturers, Samsung, Huawei and Apple, but now Xiaomi has long since entered the premium segment and thought its time had come.

The Mi 10 Pro and the P40 Pro come to Europe at the same price of €1,000, the question is whether Huawei can compensate for this kind of disadvantage.

Would you buy a phone without Google apps?
