The Xiaomi (Mi) Mix series has always been something special, always been something forward-think back to the first Mi Mix. It's October 2016, the new trend of the small cava is nowhere to be seen when Xiaomi came out with this:
The latest in the series is Mi Mix 4 Unfortunately, it is not available globally, but it is also a special one, one of the first devices to be equipped with a front-facing camera under the display. However, along the way, Xiaomi is also looking to show off the soul of the device and is starting to go down a path that has worked for many. Put your own chip into your own device.
Xiaomi's first own-chip phone dates back almost 5 years ago, with the release of the Mi 5C in February 2017, which featured a Xiaomi Surge S1. There was no direct successor to either the device or the chip. I once held a Mi 5C in my hand, by the way, and there was nothing special about it.
Xiaomi only revisited the idea of its own chip 4 years later in March 2021 with the Mi Mix Fold. Anyone who knows all Xiaomi phones well will say that it has a Snapdragon 888, but the chip responsible for image processing is a Xiaomi Surge C1. Well, but after all that history, let's get to the point:
According to a leaked source code, the Mix 5 Pro version will be the successor of the Surge C1, the C2. According to further rumours, which are Xiaomiui-The Mix 5 Pro's main camera is a 50 MP lens with optical image stabilisation. These will be joined by 2 additional 48 MP lenses on the back. A telephoto lens capable of 5x zoom and an ultra-wide angle of view. Reportedly, they won't give this one away, as there are also reports that the front camera will be 48 MP.
The Mi Mix 5 series is likely to be released in the second quarter of 2022, but unfortunately, again, probably only in China.
