Will Chinese phones stay in China? A MIUI English forum a short but pithy announcement was made by one of the admins, DinaDuan. I quote:

Dear Mi fans,

Here is something very important, before you flash or update the ROM.

1. Xiaomi phones made for the Chinese market cannot run MIUI Global ROM.
2. Xiaomi phones manufactured in global markets are not capable of running the MIUI China ROM.

We recommend that you purchase Xiaomi phones through official or authorised sales channels and check the system information before flashing or upgrading.

Thank you for your understanding.

With this move, the company wants to eliminate the market situation where many people still order their phone from China at a lower price than they would buy it from a local official shop or online store. There will also be no more Hungarian unofficial web shops ordering the Chinese version before the global phones are released and then putting the global romot. From now on, you can only buy a Xiaomi phone in Hungarian if it is released as such. No crossover between the two official roms! Or there won't be for new devices. Nobody reacted to the short announcement, although hundreds of people asked for and demanded the exact announcement of when and for which device this will be valid. Retroactive or only from now???? Nothing has been revealed yet.

Let's not jump into the Danube just yet, this can be done by simply opening the bootloader and using TWRP. It will only apply to devices with a closed bootloader.

This is not the case for cooked ruins, where the BL is open and all ruins go up with TWRP. MIUIHU, xiaomi.eu and all the rest will still be the same for supported devices.
