Xiaomi, the global leader in consumer electronics and smart devices, today announced that it has conducted an LCA carbon footprint analysis on its latest flagship device, in which it partnered with an independent carbon data analysis and certification organisation. The collaboration has resulted in a comprehensive process and methodological model for assessing the carbon footprint of smartphones.

The LCA approach involves measuring greenhouse gas emissions from the extraction of raw materials, through the production, distribution, storage and use of products, to their end-of-life disposal. Following this model, full life-cycle measurements of the Xiaomi 13 Pro's carbon footprint have determined the amount of greenhouse gases emitted as 62.8 kg CO2e. The measurement methodology complies with the requirements of the PAS2050 standard, which guarantees the accuracy and credibility of the data.
