Xiaomi is not having a quiet day, after Huawei's patent accusations, OnePlus has also joined the company. For days now, the give and take has been going on on Weibo's surface, with insinuations about the Redmi K70's gluing, pasting and screen. Lu Weibing and Wang Teng the company's director and chief marketing officer have hit back and denied everything!

The whole incident was caused by Lu Weibing's Weibo post asking the professional staff to prepare a professional analysis regarding "gap" and "glue dispensing" accidents. Judging by the pictures posted by followers, most were OnePlus 12 models, not Redmi. This stifled competition.

Oops. This revealed that the OnePlus 12 phone has gluing and fitting problems. Which also happens with Redmi and Xiaomi phones, but not to this extent. Now that's something OnePlus didn't take a good look at.

In the meantime, Lu Weibing has ordered a quality control of the production and a replacement guarantee for the phone in all such cases. But already the avalanche had started and followers started killing each other in the comments.

Li Jie, the president of OnePlus China issued an official response in which he said that " this is not a quality or design issue " and promised that customer service has been asked to open a green channel and that replacements or returns will be responded to.

"The battery cover, lens module and centre frame of the OnePlus 12 mobile phone are made from three materials, with some parts having a curved surface. The Deco full camera has two functions: one is beautiful, and the other is integrated with the antenna to greatly enhance the signal of the mobile phone. This design has nothing to do with water and dustproofing; waterproofing and dustproofing are the function of the sealing and waterproof coating inside the mobile phone."

Fight!

And then there was a bit of mouth karate, which is quite surprising, because it's not befitting of such senior leaders. But of course it's good to munch on it. Lu Weibing just added to the case that OnePlus' quality standards are more relaxed than Redmi's. So, he's made the OnePlus brand look like a dud. Li Jie reacted to this:

Some brand managers often maliciously mislead the public. This is very rare and bad behaviour. This point in particular gives them the feeling that they have found a treasure. They dare not compare their product capabilities and only make small gestures. It is obvious that a friend is worried about threatening his flagship. We have also taken appropriate action against some "malicious online photos" that at first glance appear to be fake, with positive results.

Google doesn't know Chinese that well either, but the point is that Lu Weibing is just misleading customers and doesn't dare to compare the OnePlus 12 and Redmi K70 phones, just bashing them for fake pictures like this.

It's not over yet...

Wang Teng responded for Mr Lu by claiming that the Redmi K70's screen is currently the best in its segment, even though the OnePlus 12 claimed to have his. Here I felt it was a pointless catfight.

The answer came later that the 3Pulse SVM of the OnePlus 12 mobile phone is 0.2605 and the 1Pulse SVM is 0.2756. So it's better than any Redmi phone. Wang Teng retorted and explained well what SVM is:

  • SVM is the "Lighting Association Certification Value". A value below 1 meets the eye protection requirements. It is an indicator tested by the lighting industry, not an authoritative indicator in the field of display.

  • There is currently no recognised test standard for on-screen SVM testing and it cannot represent the true experience of the human eye, with each company currently advertising values taken from their own laboratory data.

  • In the actual measurement of DC blackout mode on the Redmi K70 and K70pro, 60 Hz SVM: 0.18/120 Hz SVM: 0.17, is much lower than the risk standard for screen flicker. In fact, the human eye is not affected by strobe effects at all.

But he also added, adding to the whole controversy, that an OTA update will be released for the Redmi K70 series to keep the SVM below 0.1 in all situations. Well that's it, checkmate.
