By the time this article went out, the problem was already solved! The Mi Fit app is back in the Play Store apps!

Some companies, including Xiaomi and Huamit, despite Google's warning, the Mi Fit app has not been fixed and has been removed from the Play Store.

Changes to the Play Store rules

Google announced and notified developers back in November last year, which means that applications that have access to the call log and SMS, and whose basic functionality does not require SMS and call log permission, will be removed from the Android application store. Developers have been given 90 days to review the app permissions and make any necessary changes, or justify the need using a permission statement form, after which the Google team will review these apps.

What happened?

Now that the 90 days have expired, Google has announced that it will start removing from the Play Store those apps that have not been submitted and reviewed for the above permissions, but are not restricted in their basic functionality. Developers should have been able to explain why an app needs access to such sensitive data. A company as big as Xiaomi failed to do this. It is incomprehensible. Unfortunately, we will have to wait for the official announcement. Nor do the sources so far indicate when the app will reappear in the Play Store. We have asked the questions in the right places and are waiting for the answers. We'll let you know as soon as we hear from the parent company!
