In order to increase its "domestic" presence and existing sales, Xiaomi has launched the Mi exchange programme in India. The Chinese smartphone company has partnered with Cashify to allow customers to exchange their existing devices for a new Xiaomi smartphone.

The service is available in India through approximately 11 Mi Home stores located in Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune and Chennai.

With this new Mi Exchange program, customers can visit a Mi Home store near them to buy a new Xiaomi smartphone in exchange for their old one. The Cashify team will determine the value of the old smartphone model and then suggest an appropriate amount to discount for the new Xiaomi device.

The resale value of your old smartphone is determined by the Cashify team based on its condition and current market value. Furthermore, the unit to be replaced must be listed in the Cashify portfolio.

While announcing this new program, Xiaomi said:

In partnership with Cashify, we have launched a new program - Mi Exchange, which allows you to exchange your old smartphone for a new Xiaomi smartphone. All you need to do is take your old smartphone to your nearest Mi Home store.

While there are only around 11 Mi Home stores in India, Xiaomi has previously said it will open 100 Mi stores in the next two years.

Xiaomi, which entered the Indian market in 2015 with an online flash sales model, has now expanded its presence to offline channels. Lately, the company has been focusing on offline channels to increase its sales and introduce new devices to keep its portfolio fresh.

Yesterday, with the launch of the Mi Power Bank 2i, the company announced its third manufacturing facility in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, in collaboration with Shenzhen-based HiPad Technology.
