Canadian actor William Shatner made history on Wednesday when he rocketed into space in the Blue Origin spacecraft, becoming the oldest person ever to go into space. 

Previously we also reported at that the classic Star Trek 90-year-old acting legend William Shatner, known from the TV series "The New Shepard", will take part in the next space voyage organised by Jeff Bezos' space company Blue Origin, where he will have the opportunity to visit space in real life in the New Shepard capsule.

The space mission, originally scheduled for 12 October, took place on Wednesday 13 October due to predicted strong winds.The unusual mission started at 16:30 Hungarian time, during which the New Shepard space capsule climbed to an altitude of about 100 kilometres from the company's Van Horn launch site. The journey took about 11 minutes.

The actor who played Captain Kirk in Star Trek said immediately after landing told on on his experience with Jeff Bezos, founder of Blue Origin: "Every person should see this. It was unbelievable." Fighting back tears, he added: "It was the most defining experience of my life. I'm full of emotion, I hope I can preserve what I feel now. I don't want to forget it."

Shatner was joined on board the NS-18 mission by former NASA engineer Chris Boshuizen, co-founder of Medidata Solutions drug discovery company Glen de Vries and Blue Origin vice-president Audrey Powers.
