The lifecycle of a phone, in terms of software support, is generally 2 years for Xiaomi. Usually, the amount sold and the hardware determines how long a model or series is supported. Well, every year you have to say goodbye to a few phones so that the development team can focus on the newer ones.

Two devices with both MIUI and Android major version updates are expected to lose support. The first sign of this is that the Chinese closed beta update will be the first to be discontinued, followed by a few more public weekly updates and of course a stable one. Then comes the Global version, of which we know very well that only the stable branch is left, so after the last Chinese stable there will be one last Global, provided the phone has a Global version. And then comes the list:

Closed beta update in China will be discontinued from 20.06.2020

  • Wed 6
  • Mi 6X
  • Mi Mix 2
  • Mi Note 3
  • Redmi Note 5

Chinese closed beta update will be discontinued from 05.09.2020

  • Wed 8
  • Mi 8 Explorer Edition
  • Mi 8 Pro
  • Mi 8 SE
  • Mi 8 Lite
  • Mi Max 3
  • Mi Mix 3
  • Mi Mix 2S

So there's a lot of Global versions in this one, and after the closed Chinese beta ends, the Global versions are expected to end 1-2 months after the closed Chinese beta ends. Peace on dust...
