A new security feature will soon be added to Google Drive, which will alert users if they try to open a problematic file.

Like any cloud-based service, Google Drive has its risks, starting with security risks. Many people are already frightened that when they save or synchronise data to the public cloud, they are essentially letting it out of their hands, entrusting the information they care about to another party. And we haven't even mentioned that many of these services do not verify the email address that the user enters when registering, creating opportunities for cybercriminals to distribute malicious software or obtain personal information.

To counter this, last year Google Drive introduced a security feature that tags suspicious files and even blocks those that are classified as dangerous from being shared within organisations. Now another useful feature Retrieved from in the cloud, which can further enhance the security of users.

The new feature is that the system sends a warning to the user if it thinks that the user is about to open a malicious file. This means that the user can now think twice before opening a file.

The Google says the new feature will be available to all Google Workspace users in the coming days. .
